Who We Bill For
Alberta Zone Inc. (formerly Medi-Com Consulting Inc.) processes payment on behalf of patients classified as Birth Tourist, Uninsured Documented Resident of Alberta, or Uninsured Undocumented Resident of Alberta.
Birth Tourist
Someone traveling to Alberta from outside Canada to give birth without long-term residency plans, and lacking provincial health insurance from Alberta or any Canadian province.
Uninsured Documented Resident of Alberta
A legal immigrant (work or student visa holder) residing in the province for at least 12 months whose provincial health insurance has lapsed.
Uninsured Undocumented Resident of Alberta
A person residing in the province for at least 12 months without provincial health insurance coverage.
Important Notice
Birth Tourist fees are consistent across the entire province of Alberta. Fees increase if payment is not made before delivery. Collection agencies or Canada Border Services will be contacted for non-payment.
Refugee Claimants
Holders of official IRCC documentation are processed by physicians directly, who invoice the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) through Medavie Blue Cross. Refugee claimants bypass the Birth Tourist Program.
Central Triage
Alberta Zone Inc. Central Triage collects payments on behalf of Alberta physicians. We gather required documentation and collect upfront deposits covering physician fees during pregnancy and delivery.
Consulting Anesthesia Services
Consulting Anesthesia Services (CAS) is now integrated into Alberta Zone Inc.
